& Jim and Kathleen came up for the Hockey game tonight and lucked out with football also. 8 teams of flag footballers for the Association windup. Great fun to watch. Mason suffered a head bash (his first at football) Not serious just a bonk on the nose and a bit of blood...... Rob & Cheryl joined us also.

WE gathered, we ate, we made the Christmas draw, we yakked and some of us got to watch a bit of football. What else could be better for a Thanksgiving Day.
Over the years while in The Force she got stuck in a few places where things were a bit difficult for my family. Hazelton BC: a rather large area of North Central BC and a five man detachment at the time 72/75. Cassiar BC: a Mining community just 100 miles south of the Yukon. ( me and another member..sometimes) In such places the spouse of a member does a great deal more than just be "The wife" Those of us that have experienced these places often like to entertain "Citizens" with our stories and escapades in those places and often I think they don't really get it. But we know. The Force finally got around to formally acknowledging all those things that Judy and others placed in similar Postings did to assist their husbands back in the day. Often the only contact for the public and other members of the Force because communications were impossible with their patrolling husbands they became involved in lots of things. Some good, some bad and some ugly. We only tell about the "Good" stories. But all sorts of situations arose and of course the main reason lest we forget, for Judy being along for the ride was someone had to look after our kids and all the family matters. So on the 7th October we attended "E" Divison HQ's of the RC.M.P and Jude along with a number of other ladies in the Lowermainland area were acknowledged formerly by The Force. It was a very nice ceremony. Piper and all.....and about time. Jude's brother a retired member of the Vancouver Police Department came down from Kelowna to watch Jude get her broach. They made me get dressed in a suit. For dinner we all went out for a Family feast at the Coast Hotel.
Just another great day in the Fitzsimmons' lives. |
