Mason and Bumps want trains for Christmas..... Just about every year since for ever I've wanted a train to replace that old Lionel set (O Gauge) that I had when I was a kid. The Lions Club here in the Wack put on a train show every fall and I finally found someone that wanted to go with me. How can you tell he's hooked. We spent a couple of hours wandering around looking. N. HO. and lots of bigger stuff available. Much to some parents future chagrin there is also stuff put out by lego.. Watch out Mom and Dad......and Judy. There were set ups like you wouldn't believe. Puget Sound Garden trains. Smaller ones in "N" gauge with mountains and tunnels that took up a surprisingly confined area. Big ones that go outside in the garden.. Not too big though. The tracks, buildings and cars and mountains and scenery that go along with some of these just blow your mind. And if you are young enough this is how close you want to get to see the detail. The one below is HO gauge and the detail is pretty good don't you think. Mason and I want a train set for Christmas...........;)
Just in case you wanted to check out all the different types of gauges and look for more info here's a link to the Wikipedia page on model trains......RIGHT HERE Terry Fox was a young man from BC who decided that he would run across Canada back in 1980. He had lost a leg to cancer and was determined to bring attention to this disease. 143 days after leaving St. John's Newfoundland and 5,373 kilometres (3,339 miles) later, he had to stop running as his cancer had returned. He died in 1981 at age 22. Click here for more details. Canada and many other country's to this day still remember and today was the Terry Fox run at Mason's school. Denise was out a week or so ago in Chilliwack's big run also. But today I got to see Mason go. The kids at the school raised over 2 grand and Terry's sister was at the school to talk with the kids before the run. As a matter of interest the Foundation is now run from Chilliwack and the fox family members are well know here now in the community. Terry grew up in Coquitlam. Warming up I know it's not a race but I'm not sure if Mason knew that. He had to sit there for quite a while before anyone else from his class showed up. They made the Grade one's run as far as everyone except the K's. It was a great day for it. They ran about 2 k.
This spring I won two passes to the Water Park. I play the odd contest on our local radio station 89.5 The Hawk. But it took all summer before I could get the weather and the two boys to get into sinc and off we went. Josh was working, Mason was into something or Jude and I were away...or something or other. But finally we got our act together. It wasn't the warmest day but the park closes next week and all the rest of the days this week we are all doing something again. We did it. Josh got most of the heavy duty stuff to do while I watched. We did go on the Colossal Canyon though and that made me scream like a gurl. Well almost. A fun day topped off by a visit to the A&W .. where the non teens both had a Teen Burger and the only teen had a Mozza. The two of them did most of the slides except the ones that Mason was too short for and we all had a riot. The kid that lives upstairs has to be the first thing in my new adventure here on the interweb. Years from now he might run across this post and remember his trip to Nelson to visit his other grandparents. When you are six of course you lose your front teeth and this watershed moment of youth occurred during this trip. Recorded here for all to see. Apparently there was a "Rib" involved in the removal of this now famous tooth. |
