Yes indeed it came last weekend. It might in fact have been Summer. Man it was great. The picture above was taken by Cheryl on her iPad mini and some "Stitch" program. It shows the corner of the lot in the far right and goes around to the Stump on the bottom left corner which is actually right behind her. You can see Jude and Rob back behind me. We had cut the grass and were getting ready for a camp fire I believe. Pictures below taken the same weekend. At the West-Deck (our name for a bar on the west side of the Point) and Lighthouse Park. So you can see we had a lot of fun and Spring is when we get started. A bonus is below. We watched this eagle fishin' and his competition with a heron go on for about ....well long enough I finally got some of it on film. It was a great Spring weekend with summer weather.

Well here it is Sunday morning and I can't actually remember what we did Friday night already. Guess it wasn't very exciting ! But I do remember Saturday. yes I do. It was just last night for Pete's sake. I can remember that far back. We took in the hockey game here as the Chief's played Victoria. The first loss that we have seen this year..but it's early.... we remain a 500 hockey team...... and it is early. Sooo the highlight of the night was "Soup" at our favorite PHO place in downtown Chilliwack. This Morning off to hockey with Mason. He's 6 remember. Jane didn't want to go to Mom's slowpitch game and picked going with Bumps as more fun and off we went. It's really hard to pick out your brother and your dad when they all look alike on the ice. Kids spent a lot of time falling down so after she got tired of hockey and listening to her "Bumps" bs with the other grandparents (of a certain age) Jane and I spend time in the park next door to the rink with some of her friends that she brought. It was warmer out there too and even I thought that was a big bonus. So after stopping at the A&W for a drink and a bacon&egger for 2nd breakfast we return home. Dad takes over for a while with both kids as Denise is still playing ball. Then Jane returns as Dad has to take Mason to a Birthday Party in Abbotsford and Denise won her first game so has to play again and we head off to the "Cookie Store" aka "Stupid Store" aka "The Real Canadian Super store" So I'm really looking forward to spending some time in my Zen corner out on our Patio just outside the door later this afternoon. It's really come into it's own with the good weather lately. I hope you are enjoying your first weekend of FAll as much as we are. Yes it's fall, officially on the calendar anyway. We dropped our really warm sunny weather for a bit less sun but it's dry and that's a big thing for the Fraser Valley.
So it's already the 6th of September and the first week of school is almost over. It's been great weather wise and I've kinda settled into a daily schedule that has little timing other than food and when others arrive home.
With Chris biking to work now there is a vehicle for me to drive if I ask "Dad" properly and tell him when I'm going to be home. I only use it for getting me to timed distant events. For the rest I've been using my bike and "Hardley" my scooter. I will be trying the bus again cause they have changed the schedule and routes and it kinda looks like you actually might be able to get somewhere on them.... in one day. Time will tell. I've added some more cruise pictures on the site. Cruises from the past. Still got a few to go before they are all up and then will start to work on my "Slides" wow did I actually say I was going to "Start on my slides". Well maybe I might start. The weekend approaches.....off to the cabin tomorrow. Just us.. I hope...;) Oh and will be missing the "BCHL Showcase" cause it's just to nice to stay home and watch hockey indoors....... All the teams are gathering here in the Wack. Two games each for a total of 16 games. A lot of hockey in two days.. Results will be interesting.. Hot and heavy non stop action at camp This is how we used to end our summers. Hockey camp somewhere with somebody. I get itchy still. I really need the smell of Zamboni fumes to get ready for the fall and a new season. I hate when summer is no more but the fumes get me by in the off months. Now I don't want you to take me wrong here. I do follow the NHL and everyone knows I'm an "Old" Leaf fan...but for years now it's been Junior Hockey or actually Jr. A Hockey that I have enjoyed the most. You say there is a difference? Well yes, sure there is.. Jr. Hockey is the CHL (Canadian Hockey League) or out west the WHL, affectionately know as the DUB. We had a taste of that league here for 5 yrs. but as so often happens in sport that franchise came and went. It's big time money and the usual way for most Canadian kids to get into pro. Jr. A is the same aged kids playing as amateurs in the eyes of the US University and colleges and meets the rules of NCAA scholarships. Jr. hockey and the CHL teams do not. Not as much money floating around and the kids get basic room and board supplied by the teams. I say kids but there are a few 20 yr. olds playing on each team and there could be as many as six. Anyhow that's your lesson for today. Onto our local team: the Chilliwack Chiefs. Coached by our friend Harvey Smyl, brother to the former player Stan Smyl of the Vancouver Canucks. Harvey coached Chris yrs ago in Williams Lake BC when Chris played Jr. We have season tickets and we really enjoy watching the kids at that level work to be the best they can. It's great hockey to watch fast and tough and generally these days without too much violence. (not that I don't mind a good scrap now and then) This is the second year that the team has been back in Chilliwack this time around and we are all excited about the upcoming season and what the team will look like. A lot more time to plan for this season should mean a better core of skaters to start the season off and the fact we have 11 players coming back is a bonus also. I was impressed with the scrimmages that I have seen so far and can't wait for the season home opener on the 15th of September.
