So I'm back in the drivers seat with my youngest Grandson Mason. All the driving and less hassle. Cause the parents have to look after him and of course the sister who is dragged along.
Anyhow enough gloating. There was a tournament in Logan Lake BC. Hockey 3 I think is the category. The kids are mostly 8. 4 games on the weekend. Mason leaves with his family on Friday after school. They play 3 games on Saturday and 1 on Sunday. Logan lake is not that far but has limited accommodation so they stay in Kamloops.
I travel up early on Saturday to catch the 10 AM game. It's winter. Everyone is checking Web cams, Apps, Environment Canada radar sites etc etc. They all show it's winter. I knew that! We all discussed the fact that back in the day we just went. Can't do that now apparently.
I digress. I just drove up and back visited with some old friends Bob & Joy Gregorash and saw the game. Small town. Small town rink. Three 20 minute periods & teams from Kamloops, Clearwater and around plus the locals.
Our team smoked everyone. Very lopsided and a huge change from competition here in the Lowermainland, which sometimes is close and the boys struggle. Needless to say they had great fun. Goals came thick and fast and our coaches ended up placing bodies on D and requesting the more skilled guys pass to others first before any shots were taken. The kids got it. Kids that had not scored efore did and it was fun. Not so much for the other teams however. Not sure why the great difference in skill levels. They might not invite us back.
After the game I left and returned home. I had another game to see in the Wack. The Chief's our Jr.A club played. The game in Logan Lake was better.
Mason got a few goals and as luck had it I got one of them with my iphone. A series of pics with the puck ended up in the net. Not great pictures due to motion and blurring but good enough for here on the blog.
Enjoy.
